История компании Suzuki

«Суза» — так автолюбители ласково называют продукцию японской компании Suzuki Motor Corp., широко известной на рынках автомобилей, мотоциклов и квадроциклов.

Suzuki была основана в 1909-м году в деревне Хамаматсу человеком по имени Мичио Сузуки (Michio Suzuki). Поначалу компания занималась исключительно производством… мотоциклов? Не угадали — ткацких станков. Первые 28 лет своего существования Suzuki Loom Company посвятила разработке, производству и совершенствованию этих сложных технологических приспособлений, служивших на благо японского народа. И преуспела: Сузуки неоднократно получал правительственные награды за достижения в области ткацких технологий. Как результат — станки компании практически не ломались и не уступали в качестве и удобстве лучшим европейским аналогам.

В 1937-м году уже немолодой Мичио решил, что станки — это хорошо и полезно, но пора бы и диверсифицировать бизнес. В те годы рынок автомобилестроения в Японии он практически отсутствовал, а потому казался благодатной почвой для вложения капитала — при относительно высоком спросе на нем еще не толкались локтями сотни брендов. Так Suzuki начала разрабатывать прототипы небольших легковых автомобилей на основе популярного в Британии Austin Seven. И снова преуспела: модели обладали инновационными четырехцилиндровыми четырехтактными двигателями с жидкостным охлаждением и мощностью в 13 лошадиных сил при объеме, не превышающем 800 кубических сантиметров.

Тут благие начинания господина Сузуки пришлось поспешно задвинуть в дальний угол: разразилась Вторая мировая война, в ходе которой правительство объявило пассажирские автомобили предметом далеко не первой необходимости. Так компании пришлось вернуться к своему прежнему занятию — производству ткацких станков. В послевоенное время этому изрядно поспособствовало прямое вмешательство США в экономику Японии: оккупационные власти поощряли импорт товаров, а производители текстиля наращивали спрос. Однако в 1951-м рынок хлопка неожиданно рухнул, что дало новый повод вернуться к неоконченному делу.

Поскольку Япония — густонаселенная, но при этом достаточно компактная страна, в послевоенное время возник ощутимый спрос на дешевые средства передвижения, способные перевозить людей на небольшие дистанции в обход общественного транспорта. Вы подумали о велосипеде? Почти верно. Сузуки начал производить мотовелосипеды под названием Power Free, оснащенные 36-кубовым двухтактным моторчиком. Его главной отличительной особенностью были три режима работы: обычный велосипед, полный автомат и полуавтомат (режим, в котором ездоку нужно самому крутить педали, но двигатель ему в этом «помогает»).

В вольном переводе — «необремененный мощью».

Успех и инновационность Power Free привлекли внимание нового правительства, и Сузуки получил грант на исследование и производство мотоциклетных моторов. Это дало старт множеству маленьких побед, а первой ласточкой стал оборудованный 60-кубовым движком мотоцикл Diamond Free, ставший удачным продолжением серии Power Free. Его характеристики позволили одержать победу в соревновании по подъему на гору Фудзи (хилл-клаймингу) в 1953-м году, что стало первым спортивным достижением компании.

Уже мотоцикл или все еще мотовелосипед?

Сузуки постепенно набирал обороты: в 1954-м году объемы производства мотоциклов достигли 6000 единиц в месяц. Тогда же оформилось и окончательное название компании: Suzuki Motor Co., Ltd.

В 1955-м Сузуки решил снова поэкспериментировать в области автомобилестроения и, пресытившись успехом своих мотоциклов, выпустил еще более успешную малолитражку Suzulight, обладавшую целым рядом инноваций, которые мы видим и в современных автомобилях: независимую подвеску, передний привод и рулевой механизм реечного типа.

Сейчас пренебрежительно назовут «инвалидкой», а в то время — вершина прогресса!

В 1961-м году ткацкие станки Suzuki оформились в отдельное предприятие, а Motor Co, Ltd наладил выпуск минипикапа Suzulight Carry. Год спустя в категории 50сс гонки Isle of Man time trial победил пилот на мотоцикле Suzuki. Поскольку компании с теперь уже мировым именем негоже было обходиться без международного представительства, компания открыла филиал в Лос-Анджелесе — U.S. Suzuki Motor Corp.. А случилось это в 1963-м году.

Ух, мощь!

Через некоторое время руководство компании решило вновь расширить сферу производства — на этот раз за счет разработки лодочных моторов. Первым из них стал 5,5-сильный двухтактный D55 (1965 г.). Уникальность предложений Сузуки была в немалой мере обусловлена трехлетней гарантией: сроки такой длины другие производители заявлять не отваживались.

За этим прошла череда успешных выпусков: 1967 год — малолитражка Fronte 800; 1968 — микроавтобус Carry Van; 1970 — полноприводной SUV серии LJ (Jimny), развитие которой продолжается и по сей день.

Ничего не напоминает? Например, Jeep Wrangler первых поколений.

1971-й год — новая громкая победа: Роджер ДеКостер одержал победу в мировом чемпионате по мотокроссу в классе 500сс, пилотируя свежевыпущенный Suzuki GT750. Эта модель надолго войдет в моду среди мотоциклистов всего мира.

Не хватает только Роджера ДеКостера.

Середина 70-х ознаменовала экспансию владений компании: в этот период были открыты представительства и производственные мощности в Канаде, Индонезии и Филиппинах. Также в 1975-м году Suzuki выпустила мотоцикл RE5, который интересен прежде всего тем, что на нем был установлет роторный двигатель Ванкеля. Данная модель была экспериментальной и вышла ограниченным тиражом, что неизбежно сделало ее предметом коллекционирования.

1979-й стал годом малолитражек — были выпущены модели Alto и SC100 (серия Servo), пользовавшиеся в Японии большим спросом ввиду экономичности и малых размеров.

Следующий, 80-й год, принес еще один виток диверсификации: на сей раз Suzuki вышла на рынок промышленных двигателей для электрогенераторов. В 81-м были подписаны договоры о сотрудничестве с General Motors и Isuzu. Еще два года спустя было подписано партнерское соглашение с Maruti Udyog Ltd. на производство автомобилей для индийского рынка. Это партнерство не просто закрепило позиции Suzuki на индийском рынке, но сделало компанию лидером продаж. За один только 2007-й год в Индии было продано почти 760 тысяч автомобилей Suzuki, что составляет 29% от мировых продаж компании за год.

В 1982-м году произошло особенно важное для нас событие: Suzuki был выпущен первый в мире четырехколесный ATV — QuadRunner LT125. Параллельно с этим в копилку побед были добавлены кубки производителя в Motocross Grand Prix 500 (6-й раз) и в World Road Race Grand Prix 500 (7-й раз подряд).

1983–1985 годы обозначили новые вехи экспансии Сузуки на мировой рынок: открылись заводы и представительства в Индии, Новой Зеландии, Франции, Германии, Испании и США. В том же 1985-м компания стартует серийное производство гоночных мотоциклов класса суперспорт — GSX-R. Модель-дебютант GSX-R750, обладавшая четырехтактным 750-кубовым двигателем с масляным охлаждением, была настолько безупречна для своего времени, что другие производители с трудом выдерживали конкуренцию в классе. В этом же году вышли известные внедорожники серии Samurai.

В 1987-м количество экспортных автомобилей достигло двух миллионов. Дела у компании продолжают идти хорошо: постепенно ширится линейка легковых автомобилей (серии Cultus/Swift, Escudo/Vitara, Wagon R и пр.), открываются представительства и заводы в других странах, индийский рынок стремительно завоевывется на пару с Maruti.

1995-й год — количество экспортных мотоциклов достигло 20 миллионов. 1997-й — количество экспортных автомобилей достигло 10 миллионов. Компания получает награду за инновации в разработке лодочных моторов.

1998-й — состоялся выпуск 7-местного SUV XL-7 — самой крупной машины компании. Формируется стратегический альянс с General Motors, совместное предприятие в Китае получает от государства добро на выпуск легковых автомобилей. В следующем году второе совместное предприятие получает добро на выпуск мотоциклов.

На самом деле XL-7 — это просто вытянутый Grand Vitara.

Самое главное событие 1999-го года — выпуск легендарного мотоцикла Suzuki Hayabusa («сокол-сапсан») GSX1300R, одного из первых представителей класса гиперспорт и самого быстрого серийно выпускаемого мотоцикла в мире. Объем двигателя Hayabusa составил 1298 кубиков, мотоцикл был способен разогнаться до 100 км/час за 2,5 с и имел максимальную скорость свыше 400 км/ч, которая, впрочем, была программно заблокирована на уровне ~300 км/ч. Помимо этого компания преодолела рубеж в 40 миллионов выпущенных мотоциклов.

К 2000-му году Suzuki достигает 12-го места среди мировых автопроизводителей: величина продаж компании составляет порядка 1,8 миллиона единиц в год. В том же гду Suzuki названа самой быстроразвивающейся японской автомобильной компанией в США, о чем свидетельствует увеличение продаж на 22% в год.

2001 — Suzuki достигает нулевого уровня утилизации отходов на наземных свалках. Suzuki с General Motors анонсируют продукт совместной разработки — Chevrolet Cruze. Также достигнуты соглашения с Kawasaki и Nissan.

2002 — продан 30-миллионный автомобиль. В США на автомобили марки распространяется гарантийный срок в семь лет — единственное предложение в своем роде. 2003 — тридцать лет лидерства в мировом производстве малолитражек.

2009 — компания представляет свой первый пикап под названием Equator.
